Low Voltage Track & Cable Systems and Transformers

Q. Where can I put my transformer and how far from the system can it go?
A. the transformer (inductive) should be mounted in a ventilated area no more than about 2m away from the system to avoid significant power drop. On most systems longer than 5m the power feed connection to the system should be close to the centre point of the system to evenly distribute the power drop along the track. For transformers with a thermal breaker, the transformer should be mounted so that heat will rise away from the breaker so wall mounting is preferable. Special transformers are available which can be placed up to 16m away from the track system with no effective power loss. (contact us for more details)

Q. How many supports do I need for a typical track system?
A. As a rule of thumb, supports should be placed approximately every 1m along a track. This varies according to the type of system used, the shape of the system, and the number and relative heaviness of fixtures the system will carry.

Q. How can I get installation instructions on the systems or further technical help?
A. Installation instructions are delivered with the product. If the installation was specified by RAYLIGHT then we are be able to offer a more specific guide for for that particular system.
